Dan Patterson

Study Leader Dan Patterson is an internationally recognized author and award-winning photographer. He was recently awarded the Comb’s award, presented by the National Aviation Hall of Fame and business aviation legend Harry Comb’s to honor a photographer's contribution to excellence in the preservation of America’s air and space heritage. Dan’s work has appeared in 30 books, including the five-part series Aviation Century, which he completed in 2006 with long-time Smithsonian Study Leader, Air Vice Marshal Ron Dick. He has also co-authored American Eagles: A History of the United States Air Force and Cockpit: An Illustrated History of World War II aircraft Interiors. Some of Dan’s photographs are now part of the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery in London. He lives in Dayton, Ohio.
